Washington, D.C. Trip

Last month, I traveled to Washington D.C. with elected officials from Glendale, Goodyear and Phoenix to meet with members of Congress, the Department of Defense and Lockheed Martin regarding FY22 legislative initiatives, Luke Air Force Base updates and initiatives, and infrastructure needs in Surprise. Luke Air Force Base provides a $2.5 billion annual economic impact to the West Valley and remains a priority for surrounding cities to keep it for generations to come. Luke AFB is the home to nearly 6,900 active duty and reserve airmen as well as civilian employees. As part of the F-35 training program, the base population has grown and is expected to grow to nearly 24,000 by 2026. I had the opportunity to visit Lockheed Martin and try the F35 simulator. It was so much fun and I was able to avoid motion sickness!
