The Council and city staff are working hard on the FY21 budget. The recommended budget is $429 million, and includes the voter-approved 2017 GO Bond projects, which include, Greenway Road; Fire Station 308; and the Public Safety Evidence and Readiness Center. Capital improvement projects in the amount of $111.2 million are also planned for this coming fiscal year.
Due to the unprecedented challenges that cities and towns are facing, we will continue to remain mindful of the current economy, and monitor expenses so that we can continue to review cost cutting measures.
Please note that the tentative budget was adopted at the May 5 Regular City Council Meeting, and the final budget adoption is scheduled for the June 2 Regular City Council Meeting. City Council meetings begin at 6 p.m. and can be viewed live on Surprise TV, and at https://surprisetv.surpriseaz.gov/.
